● FLEET INSURANCE

Fleet insurance: one policy, one renewal, one phone call

Insuring each vehicle separately means a stack of renewal dates and a different insurer every time something goes wrong. A fleet policy puts everything, two vehicles or two hundred, under one roof, and flexes as your business changes.

  • One policy from as few as 2 vehicles
  • Named driver or any-driver options (21+, 25+ or 30+)
  • Cars, vans, taxis, lorries and mixed fleets
  • Add or remove vehicles and drivers as you go

Fleet cover at a glance

What you get

  • One policy for all your vehicles: one renewal date, one point of contact
  • Named driver or any-driver options (drivers over 21, 25 or 30)
  • Comprehensive, third-party fire & theft, or third-party only
  • Add or remove vehicles and drivers flexibly
  • Discounts for additional vehicles
  • Up to £5 million third-party property damage cover
  • Optional: goods in transit, public and employer's liability, European cover, windscreen, NCD protection

What's not covered

  • Vehicles not declared on the policy
  • Racing, track days or motor trade use
  • Unlicensed or unqualified drivers
  • Wear and tear or mechanical breakdown
  • Cargo (goods in transit cover is a separate extension)

Two vehicles is enough. Plenty of insurers run mini fleet policies for small businesses with 2 to 5 vehicles; you don't need a depot to qualify.

How fleet insurance works

Fleet insurance covers two or more vehicles under a single policy: one start date, one renewal date, one point of contact. Instead of juggling separate policies with separate insurers, everything lives in one place, and when you buy a vehicle or sell one, it's added or removed from the existing policy rather than starting from scratch.

It's often more cost-effective too. One policy means one lot of admin, discounts for additional vehicles, and frequently a lower per-vehicle premium than insuring each one individually. From two vehicles to two hundred, we'll find a competitive quote from our panel of fleet insurers.

Named driver or any-driver?

This is the big structural choice on a fleet policy. Named driver cover lists specific individuals: tighter and often cheaper, but every staffing change means a policy change. Any-driver cover insures anyone over a chosen age threshold (21, 25 or 30) to drive your vehicles, which suits businesses where staff come and go.

Fleet policies can also absorb the risks that make individual policies awkward: younger drivers, drivers with claims history, and mixed teams. Tell us who drives what and we'll structure the policy around the reality, not the ideal.

What you can put on a fleet policy

Mixed fleets are the norm, not the exception. We arrange cover for courier fleets, taxi fleets, travel industry fleets, haulage fleets and general business fleets, and the vehicles don't have to match:

  • Cars, vans, taxis, buses and minibuses
  • Motorbikes and lorries
  • Plant vehicles, cherry pickers, tractors, forklifts and specialist construction equipment
  • Cover on a comprehensive, TPFT or third-party only basis
  • Optional extensions: goods in transit, public liability, employer's liability, European cover, windscreen cover and no claims discount protection

How does fleet insurance work?

It covers two or more vehicles under a single policy with one start date, one renewal date and one point of contact. You can add or remove vehicles and drivers as your business changes, without starting a new policy each time. Call 01323 416706 for a quote.

What's the minimum number of vehicles for a fleet policy?

Two. Many insurers offer mini fleet policies designed for small businesses running 2 to 5 vehicles, so you don't need a large operation to get the benefits of fleet cover.

Is fleet insurance cheaper than individual policies?

It can be, especially with several vehicles. One policy means one admin fee and one renewal, insurers offer discounts for additional vehicles, and per-vehicle premiums are often lower. The honest answer is it depends on your fleet; call 01323 416706 and we'll compare it for you.

What types of vehicles can go on a fleet policy?

Cars, vans, taxis, buses, minibuses, motorbikes, lorries, plant vehicles, cherry pickers, tractors, forklifts and specialist construction equipment. Mixed fleets are fine; the vehicles don't need to be the same type.

Should I choose named driver or any-driver cover?

Named driver policies cover specific individuals, which suits a stable team. Any-driver policies cover anyone over a chosen age (21, 25 or 30), which suits businesses with changing staff. We'll price both structures so you can see the trade-off before deciding.

What are the main benefits of fleet insurance?

Simpler management: one policy, one renewal date, one point of contact. Potential savings per vehicle. Flexibility to add or remove vehicles as the business changes. And it can accommodate complex driving risks, including younger drivers and those with claims history.
